This guy really is something else. The Anthurium Is known for it's distinctive leaves, very strange flowers, or both. If you take good enough care of him you'll see his flowers in the summer. They grow in tropical forests in parts of South America, Mexico and the Caribbean.

He likes bright, indirect light conditions, direct sunlight will burn the leaves.
Let the soil dry out between waterings. Water when the top couple of inches of soil have dried.
He needs a moist, humid environment, if he can't get that then give him a good mist every few days. Stand him on a pebble tray to improve humidity or pop him close to other plants so they can create their own microclimate.
